The statistics are staggering. With over 465 million accounts that generate 290 million tweets and over 1.6 billion search queries per day – Twitter has become the ultimate viral news and marketing tool. The last minute of this year’s Super Bowl generated 10,245 tweets per second. Justin Bieber has a whopping 17 million followers and we already received our first tweet from outer space, posted by NASA astronaut T.J. Creamer from the International space station.

The power to share instant uncensored news to a global audience was brought to light in 2009, when an Iranian student calling himself Fair_vote_Iran tweeted: “Basij is after us. slept in the streets last night. Internet is down in most of the city. 5 killed in the girl’s dorm, Asad is dead & I don’t know where is Mohsen, lost him in the crowd yesterday.” Twitter was one of the only media sources still standing during the government blackout, and would grow to become the media voice of resistance in Iran. Twitter has since taken front stage as the chosen media source for celebrities and news icons to share their status updates with the world at large.

With this in mind, I decided to investigate who is tweeting the Resource Investing News network. The list included credible organizations such as the Mining Association of BC and the Canadian Nuclear Association. Moreover, investors, fund managers, and investment firms like Sprott Money have given Dig Media and the Resource Investing News network their stamp of approval; trusting our quality content with their followers.
