Vancouver-based uranium news provider investigates the sustainability of uranium mines

VANCOUVER, MAY 8, 2008

Uranium news website U3O8.biz has published an in-depth article researching the environmental impact of uranium mines. Environmental writer Heather Kent interviewed key executives from various groups within the uranium mining industry to deliver this informative look at the reality behind uranium as a source of “green” power.

“Uranium power is being touted globally as a green alternative to other forms of power generation, but those kudos usually apply to emissions of nuclear power plants,” said Luke Brocki, Managing Editor of U3O8.biz. “What about the rest of the nuclear cycle? We’re looking to open the debate around the entire industry’s sustainability footprint.”

The spot price of uranium has come off highs in 2007 and now trades in the range of $65 per pound. According to the World Nuclear Association, 439 nuclear reactors are online worldwide and another 319 reactors either planned or proposed.

U3O8.biz offers uranium investors and the industry comprehensive news, views and commentary on all aspects of the uranium business, including information on the industry’s leading companies, players, newsmakers and events.
