Tellurium Investing News is the latest addition to Dig Media’s Resource Investing News Network  of commodity-focused sites. Dig Media’s sites educate and inform investors about the factors influencing the markets, while providing branding and connecting opportunities for exploration and mining companies.

Tellurium is one of earth’s rarest elements, and while it is more abundant than gold, tellurium is produced in smaller quantities. Historically, tellurium has been produced as a by-product of copper and lead and has been primarily used in alloys and specialized military applications. Demand for tellurium as a semiconductor material is rising for applications such as solar panels. Dig Media Make Over

Dear Clients,

We began our business in 2007 with a focus on great content and design, but we were limited by both technology and our abilities. We have since grown to a network of over 30 sites dedicated to independent, unbiased news and education helping investors realize their financial goals.

In the last 5 years we have increased our capabilities and built a team that is respected for integrity and commitment to excellence. The advancement in technology now allows us to better reflect this growth and create a better user experience.

In the next few weeks, you will start to see changes as we roll out newly designed sites and a new brand from Dig Media. In addition to design elements, we are introducing the Investing News Network or INN.

The Dig brand is one which we love and have worked hard to establish, but it does not define the network we have built and continue to expand. As we move into areas beyond commodities, the INN brand will make it more clear—for audience and sponsors—what our network is about.

Our new design will reflect a hierarchy in our network of sites and our evolution toward becoming a true news site. We are committed to journalistic integrity, providing advertisers an opportunity to be associated with great content and using innovative techniques to connect our clients with investors.

The Investing News Network brand will cover our entire network. Dig Media will still exist as the publisher of the network, but our marketing efforts will focus more and more on INN. So if you have one of our survival kits from PDAC, hang onto it—might be a collector’s item some day!

We look forward to rolling out these changes across the network in April and expect that with both the new design and the INN brand, there will be a transition period. We worked for many months behind the scenes on development and planning, so we anticipate a smooth transition; we will keep you informed throughout the process. Aside from these changes, keep in mind that the content behind the site designs and the great people behind the brand will both remain the same.

Twitter has since taken front stage as the chosen media source for celebrities and news icons to share their status updates with the world at large.

1. • Your feet – Standing/walking around the show floor for an entire day
   • Your voice – Talking so much and above so much noise, your voice is bound to fail you

In anticipating of what I was told to expect at PDAC, I worked with the Dig Media team to make sure that we could help those that didn’t prepare themselves properly and help them endure all four days in Toronto.

I have been to a handful of shows but this was my first time not standing behind a booth.  Hearing my colleagues cry “my lips are so dry”, “I feel like I’ve been hit by a bus”, “I don’t know how I’m going to make it through the day”, “ I have the worst cotton mouth” and handing them a Dig Media Survival cup was one of the most satisfying elements of the PDAC experience!

Almost 30,000 people attended this year’s show to meet valuable contacts, learn about great investment opportunities, assess the next trend, learn about new technologies and seek out ways to grow, improve and move their business forward in the mining world.  A congregation of this many people in one place is bound to have its effects on one’s ability to endure the four days no matter what your reason for being there was. Our team was among those 30,000 people and we could not have been happier to be a part of such an event, and enabling others to continue in the competition in the PDAC: survival of the fittest!

During the past year I enjoyed the beautiful scenery, weather and laid back, but always pulsing with excitement, vibe of Vancouver.  I have just moved back home to the Steel-city of Ontario (Hamilton) so you can imagine the transition. You’re probably sitting there wondering “What was she thinking?” and trust me I have thought the same thing. Even though the scenery does not compare to that of Vancouver, home is home.

As luck may have it I am close to another mining hub of Canada; Toronto. Mike, Chris and Nick at Dig were kind enough to let me continue working for the company when I moved back and I decided to test the “working from home” waters. It seems there is a stigma tied to working from home so I’m going to take you behind the scenes for a little sneak peak!

I think everyone can agree that rolling out of bed two minutes before you have to start work is the perfect scenario.  Do I mind throwing my hair up in a messy bun, keeping my comfy pajama’s on and grabbing my phone and laptop on my way to which ever room I choose to work in that day? Not at all! When I consider how much time went into picking out an outfit, ironing, doing my makeup, hair and making sure I still caught the bus on time to get to the office, do I miss it? Nope.

I have the flexibility to shape my work day to my liking. As long as everything gets done… I’m golden. With Skype, G-mail chat, cellphones and basic e-mail, working from home has become a new phenomenon for more and more businesses these days. It all sounds good doesn’t it? But there is always a flip side…

Although my commute is only twenty seconds, I am finding it harder each morning to get myself out of bed to start my day. “Just 5 more minutes!!!” as I hit the snooze button again and again.

Besides this, the two most problematic things about working from home are separating your home/work life and the lack of  in-person interaction with colleagues.

My cell phone and laptop are within arm’s reach at any time and I have found myself working much longer hours.  I have been experimenting with this one by taking my set up to Starbucks for a different view.  I have also starting scheduling a lot of in person meetings with clients to get into the city, sit face to face with people and discuss work for the “human” component of my day, but neither of these are quite the same as going into the office.

Of all these, I would definitely say that the lack of human interaction is the main reason working from home may not be all it’s cracked up to be. As I said before, I am more and more thankful every day for the existence of G-mail chat, Skype and phone calls to enable global communication. But there is something to be said about being a part of Thursday night office bowling parties, the delicious lunches Haley orders and Meredith’s Valentine’s Day chocolates shared by everyone present!  Nothing says a great work day like being surrounded by a group of great co-workers.

So my verdict about working from home… I have tried to remain unbiased since I haven’t been doing it for more than a month, so I am still undecided. I have quickly discovered that success depends on one’s ability to stay disciplined and creating a personal routine that works. Perhaps working from home is not for everyone but I anticipate that most people in this generation will be giving it a try for one reason or another.  My advice, definitely don’t discredit the value of those small human interactions that make your day awesome!

The four-day annual convention held in Toronto, Canada has grown in size, stature and influence since it began in 1932 and today is the event of choice for the world’s mineral industry. The Digs on Dig

At some point in time you have had an opportunity to talk to or even meet some of our sales team. The sales team is integral in keeping our clients happy and for building our brand.  Being the main point of contact of Dig Media, we wanted to help you get to know these people a little bit more intimately.

Erik Norcott joined the team back in July last year and he has been doing a stand up job representing and growing Dig Media.  Subsequently, Erik will be joining us in Toronto at PDAC.  So keep an eye out for him at the show, we are most certainly pleased to be bringing him with us!

DM: What is your background and why do you like doing sales for Dig?
EN: My background is business admin and I have been in the junior mining industry for the past 3 years both in investor relations and sales. I really enjoy working with Dig because I believe that the product has true value and I feel confident presenting it to prospective clients.  I also see huge future expansion potential for the company and would love to be a part of that growth

DM: Have you ever been to PDAC Erik?
EN: This will be my first time but I’m really looking forward to it!  Everyone I’ve spoken to about the conference has had nothing but good things to say. Lots of good client’s prospective clients and fun events to attend.  All around it should be amazing week in Toronto!

DM: On average how many people do you call in a day/ how much time do you spend on the phone a day?
EN: (Laughs) I would say I call between 40-60 people a day between potential clients and current clients. I guess that the actual amount of time on the phone would be a few hours if you add it all up.

DM: Wow! That’s a lot of calls… Do you ever lose your voice from talking so much?
EN: Not yet!

DM: So you’re first day at Dig you acquired the nickname Thor… why is that?
EN: Haha!  Thanks for bringing that one up! It would not have been the first time I’ve been called Thor.  Why don’t you tell me why that is… I’m still trying to figure it out!
DM: Haha! Well I think it’s because you have an uncanny resemblance to the main character in Thor the movie. But ultimately we owe that nickname to Nick! He’s the name donor!

DM: This news letter has focused a lot on PDAC prep. What are your top 3 show survival tools?
EN: Easy!…
1. Coffee
2. Advil
3. A little hair of the dog, but not till later on of course!

Did he inside trade? No.
Did he disclose insider information? No.
Did he break any laws? No.
Did he breach any securities regulations? No.

Instead, he told a friend that Blackberry Messanger is more private than company email.
Same friend who’s brother-in-law invested in a private placement.
Same friend who tipped someone and then emailed “I have better ways of being thanked…$$$$$”

Okay, so he hasn’t got the smartest friend.

But accusing Telfer acting “contrary to the public interest” is just a way to get his name into court documents so there would be more media coverage. And given the coverage, I’d say that tactic is working very well.

In my limited experience with different levels of government, the smaller they are, the more they act like individuals trying to score points (not always, I’ve dealt with very excellent civic politicians and bureaucrats). When you go to a federal agency, they are careful, measured and make fewer mistakes (again, not always).

I believe this is an excellent example. The OSC is acting “contrary to the public interest” by including Telfer where he shouldn’t have been included. The result is that someone who we should be promoting as a leader in the industry is included in stories about allegations of insider trading.  Rather than holding Telfer up as an example of what is great about Canada and our exploration and mining industry, he’s being tarred and feathered in the international press.

I honestly believe that a federal regulator would be a little smarter in a situation like this.

We look south of the border and are amazed that they don’t have national health care. I’m sure the few that look north look at our provincial regulators and shake their heads. Canada is the only G20 country without a national securities regulator. We have a majority federal government with the desire for a national regulator. Time to get on with it.
